Stories crafted with labour and care

I’ve been writing stories and fictitious works literally since as far back as I can remember, as they’re some of my earliest memories.

Since I started taking my writing a little more seriously, I’ve since written many short stories and poems, most that can be enjoyed for free. When writing, I love to tap into people’s emotions, which has resulted in my pieces being a little darker or more thrilling than I had originally set out for (not that I’m complaining). I’ve grown to enjoy making people feel uneasy, shocked, and tense, and I try to find new ways to evoke these emotions.

My published works are vastly outnumbered by my works-in-progress, naturally, and as stories come to completion I’ll share about the latest here.

The Dark War

The Dark War is a series of military fictions that puts you rigbooks!ht into the shoes of those involved. Each Dark War book may cover different stories and may even be of different genres, but the horror of warfare and its consequences are always consistent.

Although all of these stories string together to form a wider narrative, each installation can be enjoyed in isolation.

Traumatophobia

Traumatophobia is a novel set in the independent settlement of Bristol. Recent and devastating terror attacks have forced the hands of the people, resulting in the settlement asking for help for the first time since the UK went dark.

As the United Kingdom Liberation Army (UKLA) set up shop in Bristol to help defend and eradicate the local terrorist forces, Santon became very suspicious.

With the help of his friend, Santon and Swifty try to figure out what secrets the UKLA captain, Zuzana, is hiding. As the trail they follow becomes darker and twisted, they begin to question if they would have fared better against the terrorists without them.

Will Santon and Swifty uncover Zuzana’s plans before the terrorists raze the settlement to the ground? Or will they prevail against both dangerous affronts to Bristol?

Haunted Footfalls

Haunted Footfalls is a collection of three Dark War short stories.

In White Noise, join Captain Northwood as he commands his soldiers from afar on a daring mission to dismantle enemy super weapons halting their efforts. Corporal Kumbi must lead his party using only the deteriorating communication from their basic communication devices. It may take their all to take down their targets.

In Fleeting Steps, join Ziven Smiert as he ends up deep undercover in enemy territory after a mission goes awry. A mere villager, Ziven must learn on the go as he searches for his sister and tries to escape. As suspicions rise, his plans must become increasingly risky.

In Scrapes ‘n Scratches, join Sean, a young lad living in Ireland, doing everything he can to survive. He finds himself in the middle of a conflict between foreign soldiers, a political party, and a much more insidious force. There is more at stake than Sean, however.

More Dark War stories coming soon!

I have loads of plans for this series. More details will be shared here when the time comes!

The Somme campaign

The Somme Campaign is the title of a (very) short story collection detailing the awful Battle of the Somme in 1916, during World War One. As a history buff who had recently uncovered joy and skill in writing military fiction, I thought I could write stories inspired by the real events of the Battle of the Somme.

In the Somme Campaign, the ten short stories go over real events and battles to educationally convey the reality and process of the war. I may employ a stylistic approach to how some of the stories are told, but the narratives and experiences are based on real soldier experiences to deliver as authentic a story as possible.

Without exaggeration, the Somme Campaign may serve as a horrific insight into the most bloody battle of World War One, or as a starting point for those who want to learn more.

This project is a work in progress. I’m always happy for people to read my more polished entries to provide criticism and opinion, so reach out to me if you’d like to proofread a story, I’d greatly appreciate it!

I intend for the finished product to not merely be a compilation of ten short stories, but more of an educational book with images from the battle, a timeline, quotations from soldiers, and other such supplementary material sandwiched between the stories.

Hardly fit for a rat

A story covering the harsh reality of trench life, and the beginning bombardments of the Battle of the Somme.

Ranks of Green, turned to Red

A story covering the first Allied push, and how devastatingly bloody it was.

What’s left of Delville Wood

A story covering the battle for Delville Wood, focusing on the South African regiments that had the grueling task of taking it.

A Debut of Death

A story covering the first time tanks were deployed by the Allied forces, and the horrifying impression they made.

Not Unnatural

The Not Unnatural collection is a series of audio horror short stories that I made for Halloween 2022. I wrote the scripts and illustrated the images, although I thought to get some friends involved in the voice acting!

What’s coming next?

I’m always writing something, but I’m not yet ready to divulge any information into my next big project. You’ll have to wait and see!

In the meantime, I’ve got plenty of stories and games to jump into.
